Establishing a Climate

Whenever I present my children, or students, with a new learning situation, I believe it is important to establish a climate. By this I mean that I make it a point to assess where we are, where we are headed, and how we may get there.

My first example of this is establishing the climate for our home learning this summer. We will all be spending much more time together, so I thought it was wise to revisit the topic of mutual respect. I reverted to a book I absolutely love and then found that there is now a sequel! The books I read aloud and used to establish a climate for our time together this summer were Maple by Lori Nichols and Maple & Willow by Lori Nichols.

In the first book a little girl welcomes a little sister. In the second book the big sister and little sister need to work out some differences. For my children, this was a great reminder of speaking with respect to each other and respecting other ideas and perspectives.

Time to Remodel and Update

It's hard to believe three years have gone by! Life has changed quite a bit in those three years...

I'm excited to be back in the blogging world, share new ideas, and hear from those who like to talk all things learning!

Welcome and thanks for stopping by!
